Changing the Way Babies Eat Around the World

December 01, 2022 2 min read

Our mission at SpoonfulONE is to change the way babies eat. In the month of October, our medical team had the privilege of sharing our mission, and the latest results from our ongoing Infancy to Toddlerhood: Early Nutrition and Tolerance (INTENT) study, around the world:

  • Our Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson, hosted a product theater at the American Academy of Pediatrics 2022 annual meeting. In this discussion she highlighted recent updates to infant feeding guidelines and provided practical tips and resources to help pediatric professionals implement these learnings into their practice. Some of the resources SpoonfulONE offers include:
  • Our Director of Medical Affairs, Audrey W. Hou, PharmD, presented on our commitment to category education at the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) Advances in Food Allergy Clinical Development event. She also highlighted the INTENT study – the first large-scale digital health trial to evaluate parent-reported tolerance to foods that commonly cause allergies, diet diversity, and ease of use of a multi-allergen food product
  • Dr. David Jeong, principal investigator on the INTENT study and Director of the Food Allergy Center at The Institute for Asthma and Allergy in Chevy Chase, Maryland, presented at the World Allergy Conference in Istanbul, Turkey. He shared preliminary INTENT study findings, including a parent-reported allergic reaction rate of 0.2% on the first feeding of SpoonfulONEThis 0.2% reaction rate suggests infants’ immune systems recognize food proteins in small amounts during this critical development period and suggests that multi-allergen introduction products are a safe and practical strategy for families to introduce multiple allergens at home.

We are committed to helping bridge the gap in early allergen exposure guidance and to providing healthcare professionals with a convenient, evidence-based solution to offer families in meeting this important milestone.
